A GENE is a sequence of bases on DNA that is transcribed into RNA.
DNA-RNA-Protein (Collagen)
DNA carries the genetic information of a cell and consists of thousands of genes. Each gene serves as a recipe on how to build a protein molecule. Proteins perform important tasks for the cell functions or serve as building blocks. The flow of information from the genes determines the protein composition and thereby the functions of the cell.
The DNA is situated in the nucleus, organized into chromosomes. Every cell must contain the genetic information and the DNA is therefore duplicated before a cell divides (replication). When proteins are needed, the corresponding genes are transcribed into RNA (transcription). The RNA is first processed so that non-coding parts are removed (processing) and is then transported out of the nucleus (transport). Outside the nucleus, the proteins are built based upon the code in the RNA (translation).

Your Skin Is 75% Collagen
The fibrous protein that makes up more than 33% of your body and approximately 75% of your skin is collagen. Perhaps best known as the connective tissue between bone and muscle, collagen is the brick and mortar that ties your cells together. Similar to a wire-mesh screen, cells fill the holes of the screen, but they wouldn’t have any structure without collagen.
It is this pliant molecular scaffolding that supports your skin and connects it to your skeleton. As we age, however, this scaffolding change significantly, as is evidenced by facial lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging (Gniadecka 1998).
Over the years, scientists and cosmetics researchers have worked diligently to find new approaches to impact the signs of aging skin. One important factor they have found is that DNA and RNA—two critical cell components—are key to youthful-looking skin. DNA and RNA are responsible for many cell functions, including cell division. Some scientific data suggest that there is a loss in skin DNA/RNA content with age. As a result, the skin’s reproductive capabilities are slowed down. Even worse, this DNA/RNA loss can negatively impact the skin’s texture and prevent cells from retaining water.
Furthermore, when skin cells have damaged DNA and hence “lose their memory,” they fail to accurately produce the many unique proteins that make up the skin’s structure. In fact, this DNA damage may contribute to a significant decrease in the amount of skin proteins (Goukassian 2000).
Fortunately, scientists have developed a topical nutrient blend that can help boost DNA/RNA content and indirectly encourage the synthesis of proteins. This new cellular approach may help enhance your skin’s natural blueprint for beauty.
